Poems, Paintings at Milford Readers and Writers Fest Will Show Human Cost of Tocks Island Project

The ARTery Gallery will be hosting authors for the Milford Readers and Writers Festival on September 29 and 30. The town will be filled with authors at many venues for readings, panel discussions, interviews and book signings for its third annual event.

The gallery’s presentations–in the theme of ‘Local Interest’–will include poet Kerri Nicole McCaffrey, who has been exploring Walpack since she was 10.  She creates poems that describe the natural beauty, flora, people, history and clues of that area’s past and its transitions, which serve as metaphors for life. She has published five books of poetry including Walpack and Such and her most recent collection, Orchard Mornings with God. All are available through the Walpack Historical Society.

Marie Liu, member of the ARTery Gallery, past Resident Artist of the DWGNRA and painter who is similarly inspired by the region, has organized the event and created several paintings, inspired by Kerri’s poems, which will be on display at the event (which is free and open to the public). The gallery’s location is in the historic Forest Hall building, 210 Broad St. Milford PA.

Several other authors will give presentations of local interest that weekend.  Their books are available at the gallery for pre-purchase.
